About The Position

Are you looking for a rewarding way to make a difference while making a living? Advocates is seeking an outgoing and dedicated Mentor (DSP/1:1 support staff) to support a gifted and active man with a developmental disability. He and his family are looking for a Mentor to assist him with working on his goals both at home and in his community. Goals include: • Health and fitness - using the gym, swimming, fitness classes, walking, playing sports , healthy food choices • Social skills- making community connections and friendships • Independent living skills - grocery shopping, cooking, organizational skills, budgeting • Participating in volunteer work and community activities Seeking a DSP who is reliable, enthusiastic, creative, and active. The ideal candidate for the DSP position will also have effective communication and leadership skills, patience, and strong organizational skills. Related experience working with individuals with disabilities preferred but not required. Please respond with resume or summary of experience. Candidate must possess a keen sense of attention to detail, especially when electronically logging each day's time, mileage, and service documentation. DSP must have a valid email address, valid Driver’s License, and reliable transportation. Hours and days of work Wednesday (10 AM - 6 PM) Full-time opportunities may be available. Additional opportunities to work with other individuals within the agency may be available. Pay rate: $21 per hour when providing direct support. The hourly rate for indirect/training is $16.00 per hour. Requirements

Must be 18 years of age.
Must have a valid email address.
Must possess a valid driver’s license and auto insurance if required for the job assigned.
Must demonstrate sound decision-making skills.

Must be able to tolerate a moderate noise level in the work environment and must be able to handle distractions.
Ability to handle physical aspects of the job, including sitting, standing, using hands to reach, walk, push, or lift up to 50 pounds.

GED or High School Diploma preferred.
