About The Position

Shore CILA is a division of Shore Community Services, Inc., dedicated to supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in achieving independence, dignity, and community inclusion. As a DSP, you’ll be a vital part of that mission—providing hands-on care, encouragement, and advocacy every day. The Direct Support Professional provides direct care and support to individuals in a Community Integrated Living Arrangement (CILA) setting. This includes assisting with daily living activities, implementing personal plans, and fostering a safe, respectful, and engaging home environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (additional education preferred)
  • Valid Illinois driver’s license and automobile insurance
  • DSP certification (or willingness to complete training upon hire)
  • Closed-toe, non-slip footwear required
  • Professional, safe attire appropriate for direct care
  • Looking for someone to work 7:00am to 3:00pm shft Saturday and Sundays
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Basic computer literacy and documentation skills
  • Physical ability to lift, assist, and support residents as needed

  • Experience working with individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities preferred

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the health, safety, and well-being of residents
  • Assist with activities of daily living (e.g., hygiene, mobility, meals, toileting)
  • Administer and document medications per policy
  • Support residents in preparing meals, attending appointments, and engaging in community activities
  • Serve as a positive role model and advocate for residents’ rights and choices
  • Participate in the development and implementation of Personal Plans
  • Implement behavior support strategies and skill-building programs
  • Document progress, complete assessments, and communicate updates to the Program Manager
  • Attend interdisciplinary team meetings and contribute to care planning
  • Plan and supervise community outings and leisure activities
  • Assist with household tasks including cleaning, laundry, and meal prep
  • Support residents in developing independent living skills
  • Substitute for the CILA Home Supervisor as needed
  • Comply with all agency policies, safety protocols, and confidentiality standards
  • Report incidents, suspected abuse, or misconduct in accordance with regulations
  • Participate in required training and maintain DSP certification
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and functional workspace
