Legacy Behavioral Health Services is seeking a Direct Support Professional to join our Turner team. In this role, you’ll play a key part in supporting individuals and families throughout South Georgia with compassionate, high-quality behavioral health services. Under supervision Direct Support Professionals will provide training and support services to people with developmental disabilities in a 24/7 community residential program. Teamwork with fellow staff members is essential to ensure the highest quality of IDD services. Additionally, the position requires monitoring and documenting persons served progress in treatment. Flexibility to work varying hours including nights, weekends, and holidays. The Direct Support Professional will be supervised by the Site Manager.

Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED; required
  • Valid GA driver’s license with less than 5 points
  • CPR/First Aid certification or ability to obtain CPR Certification
  • Proficiency in computer skills
  • Must be physically and emotionally fit to work in a stress-filled environment to meet deadlines and deal with routine and crisis situations
  • May have extended periods of sitting, walking, and standing
  • Requires varying hours of duty to provide monitoring, educational and/or crisis handling, as well as travel to off campus locations in BHSGA or personal vehicle
  • Good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard
  • The position requires prolonged periods of sitting and have the ability to lift, carry, push, or pull objects up to 45 pounds

Responsibilities

  • Delivering skills training in daily living and community integration as outlined by the Individual Service Plan
  • Maintaining a clean and sanitary home environment to meet CARF safety regulations
  • Assisting in coordinating transportation for persons served
  • Monitoring and documenting persons served progress in treatment
