Direct and Indirect Buyer
About The Position
HID Global seeks a Buyer to manage direct and indirect purchases for Mercury Operations in Cypress, California. This position will control all the end-to-end process with our suppliers making sure that we receive the products on time and controls are in place. The Buyer for Direct and Indirect products will be responsible for the process of placing purchase orders with suppliers based on demand and guarantee that products are shipped on time and in a controlled manner. The Buyer is also responsible for a follow up on challenges and payments. This position will have extensive exposure to the organization as it will create cost savings and value to the process.
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED equivalent from an accredited institution
- 4+ years procurement experience, preferably in an electronics manufacturing environment.
- Must be very process driven/focused.
- Must be a champion of change; Capable of proposing & implementing new ideas regarding simplification and improvement to business processes.
- Must be a strong communicator and possess strong organizational skills with the ability to work on multiple priorities at once.
- Must be strong with reports and metrics.
Responsibilities
- Analyzing the requirements of raw material needs including preliminary specifications, preferred suppliers, and dates materials are needed.
- Placing POs with determined suppliers and follow up end to end deliveries to our Warehouse.
- Conducting daily / weekly calls with key supplier to understand clear to build and possible challenges.
- Reporting all challenges with replenishment, work with suppliers on action plans and report progress to management.
- Maintaining proper inventory levels on assigned commodities based on forecast or actual demand requirements.
- Planning and Purchasing more complex materials such as sub-assemblies, fabricated and machined parts.
- Providing input to operations and order management on manufacturing lead-times and associated ATP settings
- Planning and purchasing all indirect material to the site and keeping control of approvals and expenses.
- Negotiating the lowest possible cost for the indirect materials observing optimum quality and scheduling needs.
- Working closely and supporting Customer Service, Operations, Planning and Sourcing on different projects
- Performing cost analysis as required.
- Reconciling purchase and accounts payable variances with Finance and Accounts Payable personnel.
- Maintaining accurate control of purchase orders, amendments, shipping notices, and other documents.
- Maintaining KPIs that align to the Operations and Quality scorecard.
- Supporting cost reduction activities including cost analysis, VA/VE and resourcing.
- Other duties may be assigned.
