The Digital Web Content and Space Planning Specialist is responsible for optimizing web content and digital space to ensure an engaging and user-friendly experience. This role includes content management, search engine optimization (SEO), performance monitoring, space planning and optimization, and cross-functional collaboration across multiple complex web service platforms. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy. The Digital Web Content and Space Planning Specialist combines strategic content creation and technical web planning to maximize the institutional digital environment. The position collaborates closely with marketing, design, development, and college stakeholders to enhance website layout, functionality, and content presentation across platforms. This role requires strong technical, collaboration, communication, and project management skills, along with hands-on web design and digital media experience. This position also plays a critical role in ensuring institutional compliance with Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) by supporting the accessibility of digital content and web-based services. The Specialist applies Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) and utilizes established ADA and WCAG accessibility checklists to help ensure digital content, layouts, navigation, and multimedia assets are accessible, usable, and inclusive for all users.

Requirements

  • The formal education equivalent of an associate degree in computer science, mathematics, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Four years of experience in digital media, marketing, web design, or a related area which includes web development
  • Two years of experience in a lead technical, senior support, or advanced digital media role
  • Knowledge of computer system hardware and software
  • Knowledge of web design principles, user experience (UX) design, and content management systems (CMS)
  • Understanding of SEO best practices and web content optimization
  • Proficiency with web analytics tools such as Google Analytics, SEMrush, or similar platforms
  • Familiarity with HTML, CSS, and web design tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite).
  • Excellent communication, writing, and editing skills
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and project management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects independently and collaboratively
  • Attention to detail with an eye for design, accessibility, and functionality

Responsibilities

  • Ensure institutional compliance with ADA Title II and applicable federal and state digital accessibility requirements
  • Apply and maintain conformance with WCAG (2.x and later) standards across all web-based content and services
  • Conduct routine accessibility audits and coordinate remediation using established ADA/WCAG checklists and assistive technologies
  • Maintain accessibility documentation, standards, and continuous improvement practices
  • Develop, curate, and optimize digital web content aligned with institutional brand, marketing goals, and user needs
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to create and maintain accurate, relevant, and audience-focused digital content
  • Perform regular content, SEO, and accuracy audits and implement improvements
  • Optimize web content for search engine visibility and monitor evolving SEO and digital marketing best practices
  • Monitor website performance and analytics to inform content placement, layout, and user experience improvements
  • Design and manage digital space layouts to enhance engagement and ensure consistency across devices and platforms
  • Create, update, and maintain digital spatial assets including maps, locations, facilities information, and related media
  • Collaborate with marketing and branding teams to integrate digital assets into websites and promotional areas
  • Provide technical collaboration and support to applications, systems, and operational teams
  • Coordinate with vendors and internal teams on digital platform upgrades, implementations, and enhancements
  • Maintain project tracking, timelines, and status reporting, including regular updates to leadership
  • Assist with development and maintenance of technical documentation, policies, and procedures
  • Additional duties may be assigned as necessary to support the goals and objectives of the department and college
