About The Position

PDS Optical is a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business that operates optical laboratories in Louisville, KY and Fort Lauderdale, FL, and manages numerous optical stores across the US and Puerto Rico. The company manufactures a large number of eyeglasses daily, taking pride in producing eyewear for United States Veterans. The company is seeking a Digital Surface Technician who enjoys hands-on technical work, thrives in a production environment, and values accuracy and consistency. This role involves controlling optical manufacturing equipment to block, generate, polish, add backside coating, and laser lenses to the designated curve on the concave side of the lens.

Requirements

  • Ability to stand and work on your feet for 8 hours.
  • Ability to learn how to run all machines within your designated area.
  • Ability to change and install Filter Tech rolls with a partner.
  • Ability to address equipment errors and alarms on the automated surface line that do not require a tool to repair.
  • Understanding of the order of lab production, the Julian Day Number (JND) system, and identifying “HOT” or “PRIORITY JOBS”.
  • Ability to transport trays for production as needed.
  • Ability to clean work area and machines during and after your shift.
  • Ability to keep workflow going at a steady pace.
