About The Position

This Digital Navigator role is responsible for assisting Veterans with obtaining and setting up new phones, or devices, and to provide training to improve digital literacy. The Digital Navigator will facilitate Veterans’ ability to obtain online services and build everyday digital skills such as applying for benefits, conducting employment and housing searches, attending appointments, online interviews, training and education and telehealth services. This position is a short-term grant position funded through December 31, 2026.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field and two to five years of experience in IT support, digital literacy instruction and/or training.
  • Excellent computer skills and comfortable navigating various types of hardware, particularly cell phones, tablets, laptops.
  • Knowledge of digital inclusion strategies, broadband access resources, to support workforce development systems.
  • Working knowledge of internet services, online applications, Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and other digital items
  • Community engagement, case management, or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience preferred.
  • Experience working with diverse or socially disadvantaged populations preferred.
  • Ability to teach basic technical concepts in clear, accessible language.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain organized records.
  • Patient, trusted communicator who can explain tech in simple steps and adept at adapting communication/teaching to different audiences.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality; utilize trauma-informed approach.
  • Ability to work comfortably with a multicultural, homeless population experiencing complex challenges.
  • Strong computer and electronic record keeping skills.
  • Ability to maintain professional and personal boundaries.
  • Ability to write clear progress notes within an electronic database.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with clinical teams, other Center programs and departments.

Responsibilities

  • Provide one on one assistance to Veterans and small group training on phone, tablet, laptop basics; email; video visits; job search; online forms; tenant portals; safety/scam awareness; language-access tools.
  • Assist Veterans with obtaining and setting up new phones, devices, and other I.T. related items
  • Coordinate Computer Lab space, signups for classes; partnering with case managers as needed
  • Work closely with Information Technology Consultant (Auxilium Inc) to ensure full functionality of lab related IT equipment
  • Work closely with and proactively coordinate with MBI/RANGE contacts as needed.
  • Track outcomes including Veterans served, skills completed, connections to low-cost internet/devices and Veteran satisfaction
  • Collect and record Veteran satisfaction and referrals to partners
  • Work collaboratively across all Human Services teams to demonstrate proactive initiative to assist with Veteran needs
  • Attend supervisory weekly meetings, and other meetings as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
