About The Position

Acadia is committed to turning scientific promise into meaningful innovation that makes the difference for underserved neurological and rare disease communities around the world. Our commercial portfolio includes the first and only FDA-approved treatments for Parkinson’s disease psychosis and Rett syndrome. We are developing the next wave of therapeutic advancements with a robust and diverse pipeline that includes mid- to late-stage programs in Alzheimer’s disease psychosis and Lewy body dementia psychosis, along with earlier-stage programs that address other underserved patient needs. The Digital Innovation & Automation Intern will join the AI & Technology Working Group, supporting projects that help improve workflows and explore automation opportunities across the organization. The Digital Innovation & Automation Intern will work with team members focused on AI training, survey insights, and automation initiatives. Their contributions will help the team reduce manual effort and make AI tools easier for others to use. This role is designed to provide meaningful, hands-on experience in a professional pharmaceutical environment, offering exposure to cross-functional collaboration, business processes, and industry best practices.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university pursuing an undergraduate degree in a field such as Information Systems, Data Science, Business Analytics, or a related major.
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0 preferred.
  • Curiosity about AI tools, automation, and problem solving, with willingness to learn unfamiliar technologies through hands-on practice.
  • Basic experience using any AI or automation tools (e.g., chat-based AI, low code tools, coding basics, or data analysis assignments)
  • Strong communication skills, especially the ability to explain technical concepts in simple terms
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • High level of professionalism, discretion, and ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook)
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team-based environment.
  • Demonstrated initiative, curiosity, and willingness to learn in a fast-paced environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior internship, leadership experience, campus involvement, or project-based work preferred.
  • Interest in the pharmaceutical and/or biotechnology industry strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support the AI & Technology Working Group (AIWG) by helping assess workflows and identify opportunities for simple automations and AI-assisted improvements.
  • Help prototype small-scale automations or use AI tools (e.g., Microsoft Copilot, Power Automate) to streamline manual tasks under guidance from mentors.
  • Assist in preparing materials such as slide decks, visuals, summaries, and documentation to communicate project updates to cross-functional partners.
  • Conduct exploratory research on emerging AI tools and technologies and summarize findings in clear, digestible formats for nontechnical audiences.
  • Gather and analyze feedback from users participating in pilot programs and help translate insights into actionable recommendations.
  • Participate in team meetings, contribute ideas, and help maintain organized project notes and shared resources.
  • Participates in team meetings, planning sessions, and strategic discussions to gain exposure to business operations and contribute insights where appropriate.
  • Demonstrates professionalism, accountability, and alignment with company values in all interactions.
  • Completes a capstone project or final presentation summarizing internship contributions and key learnings.
