About The Position

This is an advanced professional position responsible for the management, design, governance, and publication of digital content and web platforms for the Property Appraiser’s Office. The incumbent serves as the subject matter expert for digital content strategy, website user experience, accessibility compliance, and enterprise web publishing standards. The Digital Communications & Web Strategy Specialist ensures that the public website, intranet, and related digital platforms remain accurate, accessible, secure, and user-centered while supporting the office’s overall communications strategy. The position may operate within a shared-services digital platform environment or within infrastructure maintained directly by the Property Appraiser’s Office. The role collaborates with technical personnel responsible for platform infrastructure while maintaining primary responsibility for digital content governance, accessibility compliance, and user experience design. The position reports to the Communications Director, who provides overall guidance, strategic direction, and oversight of digital communications initiatives. The Information Services Chief provides technical guidance related to website platforms, system integrations, and digital infrastructure to ensure alignment with technology standards and operational requirements. Performance is evaluated based on effectiveness in maintaining high-quality digital content, accessibility compliance, user experience improvements, and successful implementation of digital communication initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, web design, digital media, communications, information sciences, or a closely related field.
  • Two (2) years of professional experience in graphic design, digital content development, website management, or intranet content administration. Experience must include the use of specialized graphic design software, digital publishing tools, and content management systems used to maintain websites and digital platforms.
  • Experience should include preparing and publishing digital content, maintaining website pages, and updating internal or external web-based platforms such as SharePoint intranet sites or similar enterprise content management systems.
  • Additional relevant experience may substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and update the public website by publishing accurate and timely information, announcements, and resources.
  • Develop and maintain web pages using approved templates and content management systems.
  • Monitor website usability, navigation, and layout to improve the overall user experience.
  • Ensure digital content is organized, searchable, and easy for the public to access.
  • Maintain and update the office intranet platform, including SharePoint or similar internal content management systems.
  • Publish internal news, policies, forms, procedures, and employee resources.
  • Work with departments to ensure internal communications and documents are current and accessible.
  • Create graphics, layouts, and visual materials for use on the website and intranet.
  • Prepare and optimize digital images and other assets for web publication.
  • Ensure all digital content aligns with the office’s branding, design standards, and communication objectives.
  • Ensure digital content meets accessibility standards, including ADA and WCAG guidelines.
  • Maintain consistent branding, formatting, and publishing standards across digital platforms.
  • Publish and maintain interactive digital content such as embedded dashboards, data visualizations, or mapping tools when applicable.
  • Assist in presenting data and information in clear visual formats, including charts, tables, and maps to support public transparency.
  • Work closely with the Communications team to support digital communications initiatives and outreach efforts.
  • Collaborate with Information Services staff regarding website platforms, integrations, and technical considerations affecting digital content.
  • Meet with department representatives to identify digital communication needs and translate them into effective web content solutions.
  • Provide recommendations to leadership on improvements to digital communication tools, usability, and information delivery.
