About The Position

The Council brings together individuals adept at solving problems and employs four coordinated approaches to advance change—litigation, research, legislative and administrative advocacy, and communications. Position Summary The Digital Content & Web Specialist will be responsible for the day-to-day maintenance, quality, and performance of the organization's website content. This role requires meticulous attention to detail for content editing, a foundational understanding of digital advertising, and a commitment to keeping our vital resources accurate and accessible The Council is a fully remote employer, and this role operates in a remote work environment. Our team collaborates virtually, and we provide the necessary IT equipment to support your work. This role requires maintaining a professional demeanor in a remote/office work setting. Responsibilities include extended periods of sitting at a desk, frequent use of a PC workstation for prolonged hours, occasional verbal communication with team members and stakeholders via virtual platforms, and the possibility of lifting or moving items up to 25 pounds, though this is not likely to be a frequent requirement.

Requirements

  • 1-2 years of experience in digital content editing, website management, or a similar role.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with basic photo editing software (e.g., Canva, Photoshop, or a similar tool).
  • Excellent written communication skills with the ability to maintain consistent tone and style.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Interest in Web Development: A keen interest in learning front-end web development skills (HTML, CSS, or basic CMS templating) is a plus.
  • Experience with Google Ads: Experience managing or assisting with Pay-Per-Click (PPC) campaigns, particularly Google Ad Grant campaigns, is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with a Content Management System (CMS) like WordPress, Drupal, or similar.
  • Experience in a non-profit, advocacy, or mission-driven environment.
  • Occasional travel may be required for this role, including attendance at meetings, conferences, or events as necessary to support the organization’s initiatives and objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Website Content Management: Execute day-to-day content updates, revisions, and fact-checking across various sections of the website (e.g., resource pages, landing pages, blog).
  • Document & Asset Maintenance: Update and replace PDF fact sheets, reports, and other downloadable resources.
  • Digital Accessibility & SEO: Write and implement descriptive alt text for all website images to ensure accessibility standards are met and support search engine optimization.
  • Image & Media Updates: Perform basic image editing, resizing, and optimization for web use.
  • Collaborate on UI/UX improvements and accessibility audits (WCAG compliance).
  • Events Management: Post and update organizational events, webinars, and announcements on the website's calendar/events section.
  • Quality Assurance: Conduct regular content audits to ensure accuracy, consistency, and alignment with organizational style guidelines.
  • Google Ads Campaign Support: Assist with the maintenance, optimization, and reporting of Google Ads campaigns (e.g., ad copy creation, keyword list refinement, and performance tracking).
  • Cross-Teams Support: Serve as backup support during team member absences by managing urgent website updates, publishing scheduled content, ensuring continuity of digital operations, and other ad hoc Marketing and Communication needs.
