Requirements

  • You are online and deeply understand internet culture and social media norms.
  • You pay attention to what performs well on social, even outside of politics.
  • You are organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple requests at once.
  • You communicate clearly and professionally, especially when working with senior staff or Principals.
  • You are calm under pressure and able to adapt quickly in a fast-paced campaign environment.
  • You are interested in learning how Principal-facing digital operations work and thrive with clear structure and direction.
  • You are comfortable experimenting, testing, or being the first to try new things online.
  • You understand that political digital work often requires flexibility, including occasional long hours or weekend work.

Nice To Haves

  • 1–3 years of experience in digital communications or social-first digital work in campaigns, advocacy, nonprofits, or a related field. Internships or non-political creator experience count (personal accounts, meme pages, projects, etc.).
  • Experience drafting or supporting social media content for a candidate, organization, or brand.
  • You are familiar with major social media platforms (like YouTube, Instagram, X, TikTok, Threads, Bluesky, Facebook, etc.).
  • Comfort using native platform tools (in-app editing, captions, stickers, audio, etc.).
  • Familiarity with basic video workflows on mobile devices (phone filming, simple edits, captions).
  • Strong attention to accuracy, tone, and detail.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, follow processes, and escalate questions appropriately.
  • Comfort working collaboratively as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Support the management of the Lieutenant Governor candidate’s social media accounts, including drafting, scheduling, and publishing content under the direction of the Social Media Coordinator or Deputy Digital Director.
  • Assist with on-camera digital content by supporting filming logistics, preparing prompts or scripts, occasional in-state travel, and helping keep shoots efficient and organized.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for incoming digital requests related to the Principal, helping to triage, track, and route requests appropriately.
  • Coordinate with digital, communications, and research teams to ensure content accuracy, message alignment, and timely execution.
  • Assist in ideating and producing short-form, platform-native social content (Reels, Shorts, TikToks, Stories).
  • Monitor engagement, comments, and mentions on the Principal’s accounts and flag relevant trends, risks, or opportunities to senior staff.
  • Help identify moments where digital content or responses may be useful and elevate those opportunities to the Social Media Coordinator or Deputy Digital Director.
  • Work with the Social Media Coordinator to adapt content to evolving platform norms and trends.
  • Assist with basic reporting, organization of content, and maintenance of shared calendars or trackers related to the Principal’s digital presence.
