About The Position

The Dietary Supervisor plays a critical role in managing and overseeing the dietary services within healthcare or institutional settings to ensure the delivery of nutritious, safe, and high-quality meals tailored to meet the dietary needs of diverse populations. This position involves coordinating food preparation, menu planning, and compliance with health and safety regulations while maintaining budgetary controls. They work closely with dietitians, healthcare professionals, and management to implement dietary programs that support patient or resident health outcomes. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree or higher in Nutrition, Food Service Management, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in dietary services or food service supervision, preferably in a healthcare or institutional setting.
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations, sanitation standards, and dietary guidelines.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills to effectively manage staff and interact with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Basic computer skills for record-keeping and inventory management.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification as a Dietary Manager (CDM) or Certified Food Protection Professional (CFPP).
  • Experience working with electronic dietary management systems and nutrition software.
  • Familiarity with specialized diets such as renal, diabetic, or cardiac diets.
  • Previous experience in a supervisory role within a healthcare or long-term care facility.
  • Additional training or coursework in nutrition or dietetics.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise daily dietary operations including food preparation, service, and sanitation to ensure compliance with established standards and regulations.
  • Develop and implement menus that meet nutritional guidelines and accommodate special dietary needs and restrictions.
  • Train, schedule, and manage dietary staff to maintain high performance and adherence to safety protocols.

  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to address patient dietary requirements and adjust meal plans accordingly.
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits to ensure compliance with health codes and organizational policies.
  • Maintain accurate records related to food safety, staff training, and dietary services.
