The incumbent must coordinate with his supervisor, all departmental matters requiring interface with outside agencies. Performs removal, repairs, overhauls, installations, mounting, alignment, trouble shooting and testing of equipment, deck machineries, stationary diesel engines, cargo pumps, piping, marine diesel propulsion engines, couplings, clutches, drive gears, reduction gears, propeller shafts, propellers assemblies, cutlass bearings, staffing boxes, bilge pumps, air compressors, sea service power generators sets, winches, wire rope, pumps, steering system, rudder system, hydraulic systems, exhaust system, cooling systems and keel coolers. Performs trouble shooting on any types of diesel engines, equipment under repairs, installation and testing to make the shipboard equipment operational on the vessels or craft and industrial plant equipment under the cognizant to A-06 Port Operations and all related systems and mechanical work/activities, including but not limited to: Removal, cleaning, preparation and installation and replacement of cutlass bearings, bushings, pins, piping, machinery foundations, stuffing boxes, propeller shaft sealing systems and other related parts prior of the craft/vessel under overhaul. Performs masking, covering and blanking of critical equipment and surfaces for protection from any damaging elements. Performs engine set up on dynamometer stand. Records reading, make adjustments and settings. Installs temporary test equipment such as thermocouples, tachometers, pressure gauges and dial indicators. Performs repairs of blowers, compressors, and fuel injectors. Maintains awareness to safety requirements, all work areas clean and in good housekeeping. Accomplishes proper maintenance of various tools and equipment. Performs other duties as required to support contract requirements.
