About The Position

The Devops Platform Engineer will build and maintain secure, scalable, and automated infrastructure across Planet Fitness's cloud environments. This role combines technical expertise in infrastructure, DevOps, and cloud platforms with close collaboration across engineering and security teams. The Devops Platform Engineer will contribute to platform standards, drive automation, and support business initiatives by delivering reliable cloud services and improving developer experience/workflows.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in computer information systems, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent work experience (minimum of 5-7 years in cloud, DevOps, or platform engineering role.
Hands-on experience deploying, managing, and supporting enterprise platforms (web and/or mobile).
Strong experience with AWS (preferred) and working knowledge of Azure/Google Cloud.
Proficiency in infrastructure as code using Terraform.
Practical experience managing Kubernetes environments (AWS EKS preferred).
Experience working with and supporting CI/CD pipelines.
Proficient with Git/GitHub or equivalent source control and team collaboration.
Familiar with Jira and Confluence for work tracking and documentation.
Hands-on experience with static analysis tools.
Strong written documentation and communication skills, especially when working across teams.
Extremely detail-oriented, efficient, and organized with an exceptional ability to establish priorities and objectives

Responsibilities

Collaborate closely with the Director, IT Infrastructure & Cloud to execute the IT vision for Planet Fitness.
Build and maintain cloud infrastructure in AWS following team standards and practices.
Contribute to the operation of Kubernetes (EKS) clusters, including deployment, scaling, and upgrades.
Write and maintain Terraform code to support infrastructure needs.
Assist in supporting and improving CI/CD pipelines used by data and application development teams.
Help extend and maintain the internal developer platform service catalog (Backstage.io).
Monitor and troubleshoot systems using tools such as Datadog and PagerDuty.
Follow security guidelines and vulnerability remediation SLA set by our Information Security team.
Participate in team projects, support/access requests, threat modeling sessions, and on-call rotation.
Collaborate with developers and security teams to support application delivery.
Document processes, configurations, and runbooks to support knowledge transfer.
Help foster a culture of communication, collaboration, and continuous learning across teams.
