About The Position

The Device EP (Electrophysiology) Technician assists in performing simple and complex diagnostic tests in the Adult Cardiology Outpatient Clinic for the adult patient population. This role involves performing device interrogations for patients with Pacemaker and ICD, performing electrocardiograms, and facilitating remote monitoring workflow for device patients. The technician is responsible for recognizing cardiac dysrhythmia and life-threatening arrhythmias and initiating emergency resuscitation measures as needed. The position provides care in the Adult Cardiology Outpatient Clinic to assure the highest quality test results, working closely with Cardiologist, Nurse Practitioners, and other clinical staff to guarantee optimal test quality. Additional duties may include transcribing results, preparing records for physician interpretation, scheduling, patient charges, supply ordering, stocking, and report generation and retrieval. The technician records treatment and diagnostic information for the medical record and utilizes independent judgment and initiative appropriately.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Successful completion of a basic arrhythmia course (BART) within first 3 months of hire
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Certified Cardiac Device Specialist (CCDS) certification through International Board of Heart Rhythm Examiners (IBHRE) within 6 months of eligibility
  • Valid/current unrestricted California Driver’s License
  • Valid/current auto insurance
  • Able to read
  • Able to write legibly
  • Able to speak in English with professional quality
  • Able to use computer and software programs necessary to the position
  • Able to troubleshoot and calibrate patient care equipment
  • Able to relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others

Nice To Haves

  • Associate of Science Degree in cardiovascular technology
  • Minimum one year of experience in a cardiovascular clinic or lab
  • Speak in Spanish

Responsibilities
