About The Position

Department: UHC: International Heart Institute Job Summary: The Device EP (Electrophysiology) Technician assists in performing simple and complex diagnostic tests in the Adult Cardiology Outpatient Clinic for the adult patient population. Performs device interrogations for patients with Pacemaker and ICD, performs electrocardiograms and facilitates remote monitoring workflow for device patients. Recognizes cardiac dysrhythmia and life-threatening arrhythmias and initiates emergency resuscitation measures as needed. Provides care in the Adult Cardiology Outpatient Clinic to assure highest quality tests results. Works closely with Cardiologist, Nurse Practitioners, and other clinical staff to guarantee optimal test quality. Transcribes results and prepares records for physician interpretation. May do scheduling, patient charges, supply ordering, stocking, and report generation and retrieval as required. Records treatment and diagnostic information for the medical record. Utilizes independent judgment and initiative appropriately. Performs other duties as needed. Education and Experience: High School Diploma or GED required. Successful completion of a basic arrhythmia course (BART) required within first 3 months of hire. Associate of Science Degree in cardiovascular technology preferred. Minimum one year of experience in a cardiovascular clinic or lab preferred. Knowledge and Skills: Able to read; write legibly; speak in English (and Spanish preferred) with professional quality; use computer and software programs necessary to the position; troubleshoot and calibrate patient care equipment. Essential Sensory Abilities: Able to distinguish colors and smells as necessary for patient care; hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone; identify and distinguish various sounds associated with the work place/patient care; see adequately to read computer screens, medical records, and written documents necessary to position; discern temperature variances through touch. Licensures and Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) required. Basic Arrhythmia Recognition & Treatment (BART), within first 3 month of hire. Certified Cardiac Device Specialist (CCDS) certification through International Board of Heart Rhythm Examiners (IBHRE) required within 6 months of eligibility Valid/current unrestricted California Drivers License required. Valid/current auto insurance required.
