About The Position

Founded in 1881, the Boston Symphony Orchestra (BSO) is one of the premier orchestras in the world. The BSO is committed to bringing world class music and performances to the local and international communities. The key to our success has been our employees, from the musicians onstage to those behind the scenes. The focus of this position is to assist the Boston Symphony Orchestra with the general operations through administrative support of the Boston Symphony Orchestra Development Tea. Position may require some nights and weekend work and some trips to Tanglewood. This is a Community Service Employment role. Community Service Employment (CSE) provides Berklee students with community-based jobs, through which they gain professional experience, educational enrichment, and the opportunity to share their skills and participate in the development of Boston’s multicultural communities. Community Service Employment roles require federal work-study eligibility and U.S. domestic status. What is federal work-study (FWS)? It’s available to undergraduate, graduate, and professional students with financial need from their financial aid award to provide part-time employment when you’re enrolled in school. Requirements

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and documentation
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Teams, Outlook, Sharepoint)
  • Ability to learn new software systems (CRM experience—Tessitura, Salesforce, Raiser’s Edge, etc.—is a bonus but not required)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage time effectively, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines
  • Comfort handling confidential or sensitive information with discretion
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to follow structured processes
  • Interest in databases, reporting, or operational aspects of the arts and fundraising
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment
  • Problem-solving mindset and willingness to ask questions when unsure
  • Professionalism, reliability, and a strong work ethic

Nice To Haves

  • CRM experience—Tessitura, Salesforce, Raiser’s Edge, etc.—is a bonus but not required

Responsibilities

  • Provide general administrative and operational assistance to the development department
  • Assist with data entry, data cleanup, and maintaining accurate records in Tessitura
  • Support file management, including organizing digital and physical documents
  • Take notes during meetings and help summarize key takeaways or action items
  • Conduct research on prospects and donors to assist with research and briefing as needed
  • Assist with scheduling meetings and coordinating logistics
  • Event support such as preparation for the Gala
  • Perform routine tasks and special projects to support daily team operations
