About The Position

The Morgan Library & Museum invites applications for the position of Development Associate reporting to the Director of Membership. The Development Associate provides essential administrative support for the Morgan’s Friends levels of members and the Annual Fund, assists in overseeing the Young Fellows program, and supports engagement, retention, and recognition of 6,000 strong constituents. Other duties include but are not limited to the maintenance of the CRM systems (Blackbaud and Humanitru); gift processing, acknowledgements, and support to Friends and Young Fellows regarding membership, events, and other related topics by phone and by email management of the renewal process for members and Young Fellows; support during membership and Young Fellows events; and development of persuasive renewal correspondence and the creation of Annual Fund and membership revenue reports for senior management. Also assists in managing the department's part-time administrative assistant as needed.

Requirements

  • B.A./B.S./Undergraduate Degree
  • At least 2 years of experience working in a museum, arts organization, or nonprofit preferred.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks with keen attention to details
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills; a self-directed team player.
  • Strong relationship-building and communication skills
  • Highly-developed writing skills
  • Experience with CRM systems (Blackbaud and Humanitru preferred)
  • Experience with digital membership software preferred
  • Familiarity with design programs (Adobe InDesign, Canva, and/or Photoshop preferred)
  • Familiarity with e-mail layout and design software (MailChimp preferred)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software, particularly Word and Excel
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace software, particularly Gmail, Google Docs, and Google Sheets
  • Some evening and weekend hours are necessary
  • Occasional travel within Manhattan will be necessary
  • Ability to lift boxes approximately 15-20 lbs.
