About The Position

World Wide Technology (WWT) is seeking an experienced Developer to join our newly formed AI Native Engineering team within the IT Software Engineering CoE. This is a high‑impact, internal innovation role focused on advancing how WWT researches, builds, and scales AI‑native engineering capabilities across the enterprise. This is not a traditional engineering role. Its purpose is to establish the patterns, practices, tooling standards, reference architectures, and proof points that will mature WWT’s AI‑native engineering capability and ultimately scale to broader services and client engagements. The role carries high visibility across IT and WWT as we define the next generation of AI-enabled engineering. You will research, apply, and teach—constantly expanding your own AI capabilities while enabling others to become AI Native. Key aspects of the role include: Formulating and testing hypotheses about AI value through real‑world experiments Bridging theory and production by building proofs of concept and reference implementations Leveraging AI‑native engineering tools to accelerate high‑quality execution across multiple domains Acting as a consultative leader—coaching, teaching, and enabling teams to adopt AI‑native practices Helping define problems as you solve them in dynamic, ambiguous environments

Requirements

  • 5+ years of professional software development experience, ideally across multiple technology stacks and environments.
  • Demonstrated experience evaluating, adopting, or integrating AI‑related development tools, frameworks, or workflows.
  • Strong understanding of modern engineering practices, including CI/CD, automated testing, cloud‑native architectures, and platform engineering.
  • Proven ability to research, compare, and operationalize new tools or methodologies with minimal oversight.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience engaging senior leaders and executive stakeholders.
  • Experience designing and delivering proofs of concept, reference implementations, or technical demonstrations.
  • A self‑directed mindset with the ability to lead initiatives within a Center of Excellence model.

Nice To Haves

  • Thrive on continuous learning and have deep expertise in one or more engineering domains
  • Use AI‑native engineering tools to rapidly extend beyond your core specialization
  • Have a consultative mindset and strong communication skills
  • Are comfortable operating in ambiguity and helping define problems as you solve them
  • Are a curious, critical thinker and a self‑starter who takes initiative without waiting for direction

Responsibilities

  • Research, evaluate, and prototype emerging AI‑native engineering tools and platforms
  • Conduct comparative analyses and develop recommendations that improve engineering velocity, quality, and developer experience
  • Partner with engineering teams to integrate approved tools into workflows and ensure smooth onboarding and operationalization
  • Define, refine, and optimize AI‑augmented engineering workflows, delivery patterns, and automation strategies
  • Identify opportunities to streamline development processes using AI‑driven approaches
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to pilot and scale new patterns across the enterprise
  • Design and deliver proofs of concept that demonstrate practical, measurable applications of AI‑native engineering
  • Build and maintain reference architectures and reusable frameworks that accelerate adoption
  • Transition successful experiments into scalable, production‑ready patterns
  • Create high‑quality documentation, tutorials, and enablement assets that codify best practices
  • Translate complex technical concepts into clear guidance for broad engineering audiences
  • Partner with enablement teams to socialize standards and patterns across WWT
  • Monitor AI and developer tooling ecosystems and translate changes into actionable insights
  • Communicate findings, impact assessments, and updates to senior leaders and stakeholders
  • Identify adoption barriers and help drive organizational change toward AI‑native ways of working
  • Host office hours and working sessions to support teams adopting new tools and workflows
  • Provide hands‑on troubleshooting and tailored guidance
  • Capture real‑world feedback to inform future standards, tooling strategies, and priorities
