Design Technician II
About The Position
This is a dynamic, hands-on role where you will design and support a variety of utility projects including storm hardening, new construction, residential and commercial projects, solar farms/panels, reconductoring, removals, and fault sensor installations. You will be responsible for drafting, calculations, easement validation, cost estimating, and permit package development. The role also involves managing multiple tasks to meet project timelines, budgets, and client expectations, while ensuring high-quality work and supporting construction coordination. You will communicate professionally with clients, stakeholders, and team members, follow company safety rules, design standards, and governing authority regulations, and identify errors, update client records, perform QC checks, and train junior team members. Requirements
- 1-2 years of prior experience in electric distribution
- Strong work ethic with desire to work in a production environment.
Nice To Haves
- Proficiency in drafting/design software (e.g., ArcFM, ArcMap, Infor or Pole Foreman, AutoCAD) preferred
- Associates degree preferred
Responsibilities
- Support a variety of utility design projects, including storm hardening (relocating/reframing lines to prevent outages), new construction, residential and commercial projects, solar farms/panels, reconductoring, removals, and fault sensor installations.
- Complete design tasks such as drafting, calculations, easement validation, cost estimating, and permit package development.
- Manage multiple tasks to meet project timelines, budgets, and client expectations.
- Communicate professionally with clients, stakeholders, and team members, while following company safety rules, design standards, and governing authority regulations.
- Identify errors, update client records accurately, perform QC checks, and train junior team members.
- Ensure high-quality work, support construction coordination, and perform other duties as assigned.
