About The Position

The Design and Production Coordinator supports the YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago’s Marketing & Public Affairs department by delivering high‑quality design, production, and creative project coordination. The role works closely with partners across hubs, camps, and learning sites to produce compelling, on‑brand communications that strengthen community by connecting people to their purpose, potential, and one another. The Coordinator ensures brand consistency across all visual communications, manages production workflows, and contributes to impactful creative execution. The ideal candidate is a detail‑oriented creative with strong design skills, excellent organizational abilities, and comfort managing multiple projects in a collaborative, fast‑paced environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Marketing, Communications, or related field; or equivalent professional experience.
  • 1–3 years of experience in graphic design, creative production, or a similar role.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) and Canva a plus.
  • Strong project-management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in nonprofit, agency, or mission‑driven environments.
  • Experience coordinating with print and production vendors.
  • Working knowledge of email marketing or web content management systems.
  • Experience working within brand guidelines in a multi-location or multi-stakeholder environment
  • Familiarity with Microsoft 365 applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and SharePoint environment for integrated collaboration.
  • Ability to work in a Windows/PC‑based environment (role is not Mac‑based)

Responsibilities

  • Design and produce a variety of digital and print assets, including social media graphics, flyers, program brochures, signage, email visuals, presentations, and branded templates.
  • Support creative development for campaigns, events, fundraising initiatives, and YMCA programs.
  • Prepare production‑ready files and coordinate with print vendors as needed.
  • Maintain visual consistency across all materials in alignment with YMCA brand guidelines while supporting hyperlocal storytelling across communities.
  • Coordination of print production, vendor management, and distribution logistics
  • Develop, maintain, and communicate project timelines to internal stakeholders.
  • Work closely with Creative Director, internal teams, and external vendors to keep projects moving efficiently.
  • Oversee vendor contracts, scopes of work, and invoice reconciliation.
  • Primary stakeholder of internal online ordering portal of templates and brand resources.
  • Organize, update, and maintain the YMCA’s digital asset libraries (logos, templates, photography).
  • Assist in implementing brand standards across the association and local hubs.
  • Provide light design support or brand guidance to YMCA hubs and internal partners.
