Discover opportunities to make a difference at RTX. We are hiring for an Intern Design Engineer in Winston Salem, NC within the Aftermarket Seating group for the Summer of 2026. As a Design Engineer, the candidate will be responsible for performing design studies and devising solutions for technical problems by applying technical principles and concepts along with a multi-disciplinary approach. This position is onsite, in Winston Salem, NC. This role may be eligible for relocation.

Requirements

  • Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and student must be pursuing a Bachelor’s or advanced degree in an applicable discipline.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in the design of mechanical systems.
  • Familiarity with the Teamcenter product lifecycle management system.
  • Experience using the NX modeling software or equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • You will design mechanical components and assemblies with a focus on manufacturability, reliability, and maintainability.
  • You will prepare, modify, and release CAD (NX) drawings to ensure the fit, form, and function of mechanical designs.
  • You will evaluate materials and parts for use in new designs.
  • You will operate within a team environment, working cross-functionally to provide input on design solutions and actively participating in design reviews.
  • You will perform design studies to validate project proposals and support development activities.
  • You will conduct engineering calculations to determine the size and strength of components, solving design problems and validating analytical designs.
  • You will utilize engineering tools such as Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) to validate and optimize design content.
