About The Position

Dewberry has an excellent opportunity for an Deputy Water Department Manager with 1 0 plus years of experience to lead a team of water /water resources engineers. The ideal candidate should have people management skills along with proven technical expertise in water /wastewater engineering, proposal development, marketing and business development in NY/NJ area. The candidate will serve as Senior Project Manager and/or Contract Manager on complex planning, engineering, and construction of water, wastewater, and stormwater infrastructure and large-scale flood resilience related projects primarily in N Y/NJ area. The Assistant Water Department Manager will support the Water Department Manager in the overall growth of the Northeast water group along with leading proposals, business development, present at conferences, participate in professional organizations, and will have the opportunity to grow nationally. The Assistant Water Department Manager will be involved in developing and leading a team of engineers to execute various projects within N Y/NJ area . Requirements

  • BS or MS degree preferably in Civil Engineering (with an emphasis in water resources and/or environmental engineering).
  • 1 0 + years of experience in water /wastewater engineering
  • Professional Engineer License and ability to apply for reciprocity in various states
  • Demonstrated experience as an engineer of record for built projects.
  • Experience with people management
  • Progressive experience conducting business development and project delivery for water, wastewater, and stormwater projects
  • Knowledge of N J DEP, NYSDEC , NJDOT and similar agencies standards and procedures for design.
  • Candidate must have strong technical writing and communication skills.
  • Experience using GIS and CAD programs such as ESRI ArcGIS, AutoCAD Civil 3D, Microstation and others.
  • Knowledge to perform QA/QC using various standards and checklists
  • A clean driving record is required.

Responsibilities

  • Support Water Department leadership to lead a team of water and wastewater engineering professionals that delivers multi-disciplinary projects.
  • Serve as engineer of record on projects.
  • Perform project management and contract management activities including supporting client management activities for several key N Y/NJ and national clients.
  • Develop strong client relationships.
  • Lead multi-disciplinary teams of professionals on planning and design related projects.
  • Lead strategy and capture planning on pursuits.
  • Manage, lead, execute, and/or provide technical support within the municipal, regional, and federal markets.
  • Communicate with clients, establish goals and objectives for project teams, and schedule and coordinate resources to deliver projects on time, within budget, and to the performance expectations of the client.
  • Become a mentor for Project Managers, Project Engineers, Staff Engineers and Graduate Engineers.
  • Become QA/QC champion for the water engineering team
