About The Position

Dewberry has an opportunity for an experienced Deputy Department Manager to lead the Bridge design team in our Bloomfield, NJ office. You will collaborate closely with Bloomfield’s Department Manager and be responsible for overseeing a team performing structural calculations, preparing design and contract documents (including reports, engineer’s estimates, and construction specifications), reviewing shop drawings, and providing technical support during the construction phase. We will look to you to drive targeted business development activities to grow the department, and win more projects of increasing scale. Your skills as a Project Manager will be used as you lead large or complex projects requiring seasoned management skills. Typical projects involve city and state clients in the transportation market. As a leader you'll be involved in staff professional development, growth, retention and recruiting, mentoring, training, quality management, project management practices. Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering is required, Master’s Degree in Structural Engineering is desirable.
  • At least 10 years of related experience.
  • Bridge engineering and project management experience.
  • Demonstrated project management success for size-able projects for the following agencies: NJDOT, NJTA and PANYNJ agencies.
  • Professional Engineer in NJ required.
  • Experience writing winning proposals an d leading successful client presentations for NJ clients.
  • Strong interpersonal and effective leadership skills.
  • Occasional travel will be required.
  • Driving is a requirement of the position. A clean driving record is required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist supervision and provide direction, guide, and inspiration to a staff of project managers, engineers, and technicians.
  • Successfully perform as Project/Task Manager or, in a design-build procurement, as Design Manager of large, complex jobs.
  • Recruit, retain, develop, mentor, train and grow individual practitioners and teams.
  • Staff project teams with the right number and type of skill sets to contribute to successful delivery.
  • Collaborate pro-actively and productively with other groups and company offices across the Northeast and US.
  • Conduct business development activities and opportunity capture planning, proposal writing, and oversight
  • Be partially responsible for operations that lead to meeting revenue and profit goals.
