About The Position

Under direct supervision, performs diversified administrative, secretarial, and clerical duties and responsibilities demanding the use of numerous and various types of procedures. Problems encountered are routine to difficult in nature.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED;
  • Requires one year of related experience.
  • Understanding and ability to utilize County’s software.
  • Valid Virginia Drivers’ License;
  • Completion of National Incident Management System (IS-100 and IS- 700 or NIMS equivalent) within 90 days of employment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, initiative, professionalism, and ability to work with deadlines;
  • Must be discreet when dealing with confidential matters;
  • Must have ability to handle large sums of cash with a high degree of accuracy;
  • Must have the ability to work well with co-workers, the general public and other County departments;
  • Must possess good verbal and written communication skills; and,
  • Good math and computer literacy a must.
  • Customer-service oriented with a desire to serve and assist others in a professional manner;

Responsibilities

  • First point of contact for taxpayers (Back-up on front counter)
  • Responsible for all refund/OPAY processes for the Treasurer’s Office. This includes the moving of monies and payment of interest on refunds due.
  • Check signer
  • Debt Set-Off Coordinator Assistant
  • Processes daily mail
  • DMV Stop placement/release
  • VEC access to assist with tax collections
  • Credit card processing/balancing- Back-up
  • Maintaining voicemail for the office, checking voicemail, returning calls in a timely manner and setting messages when closed or out of the office.
  • Mortgage code removals/additions
  • Assists public with a variety of problems and inquiries in a friendly and professional manner, in person, via telephone and electronic media.
