About The Position

The purpose of this position is to protect the community and properties of the County. Patrols rural areas, serves warrants, maintains the peace, and assists in identifying mental health consumers in the judicial system for in depth mental health assessments. This position works under close to general supervision according to set procedures but determines how or when to complete tasks.

Requirements

  • Requires High School graduation or GED equivalent supplemented by specialized courses/training.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving history.
  • Requires Texas Basic Peace Officer license.
  • Requires the following courses: Hostage Negotiation Crisis Intervention Mental Health Deescalation Special Weapons and Tactics Standard Field Americans with Disabilities Act Compliance

Responsibilities

  • Performs patrol duties by responding to emergency dispatch calls, patrolling rural areas, ensuring buildings and residences are secure and assisting other departments as needed.
  • Performs other duties by serving warrants, filing reports, maintaining education requirements, providing public relations functions for the community and performing other duties as assigned.
  • Completes and coordinates successful special assignments issued from the Constable.
  • Conducts or manages internal investigations to ensure integrity.
  • Develops and modifies policy and procedures that conform with modifications of state law, rules, and supreme court decisions.
  • Performs state-required court security duties, operates both handheld and walk-through magnetometers.
  • Ensures proper operation of equipment.
  • Coordinates with justice courts to ensure court needs are met.
  • Ensures the safety of judges.
  • Performs related work as required.
