As NASA’s largest engineering solutions provider working together with NASA at centers across the United States. We are seeking Deputy Section & Task Order Manager, Software Engineering and DevOps under the JETSII contract. The Deputy Section & Task Order Manager, Software Engineering and DevOps will: Report to the Software Engineering and Subsystem Management Section Manager. The position is responsible for the management of approximately 40 Employees. Maintain a positive, constructive, professional relationship with the NASA customers and other NASA support contractors Interface with NASA Software Engineering Leads & Software Engineering oversight teams Demonstrate excellent communication, collaboration, and coordination skills Perform duties as a Deputy Section Manager: Ensure employees in functional areas follow established procedures and generate finished work products under time and budgetary constraints Assist in approving timecards on a weekly basis Assist and reviewing and approving travel requests Assist with personnel performance reviews Assist with resolution of employee performance issues Ensure proper team reporting on tasking Assist with recruiting activities Ensure personnel are recognized for accomplishments Perform duties as the Deputy Task Order Manager Assist with the management (creation, coordination and revision) of scope, cost, schedule and risk for government contract task orders Develop, manage and monitor cost plans, estimates and actuals Ensure proper team reporting on tasking Conduct routine customer project reviews for cost, schedule, risk management, and deliverable adherence Maintain active risk management (technical, cost, and schedule) on all projects and work functions Communicate project status to senior JETS management Work in a fast-paced, Agile environment Promote a culture of caring and safety Demonstrate a Servant/Leader approach to management Promote a culture of continuous improvement and innovation Perform other duties as assigned or as required

Requirements

  • Typically requires a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Engineering and may be expected to have a related master’s degree and normally possess 10-15 years of related experience.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and coordination skills and strong customer service attitude with a history of effectively interacting with senior managers at all levels
  • Previous project management experience required
  • Experience leading a development project across the full development life cycle
  • Must be able to perform employee management duties including recruiting, developing, and terminating personnel
  • Experience fostering a collaborative team environment
  • Proficiency with team collaboration tools such as Microsoft Teams, Webex, Skype, SharePoint,Jira
  • Must be able to organize and prioritize tasks in order to meet deadlines and schedules with limited supervision
  • Ability to prepare written documents/presentations and to verbally present at various meetings
  • Must have strong time management and organizational skills
  • Demonstrates leadership ability to oversee a team of professionals working on multiple small and large projects concurrently
  • Self-starter who can understand and absorb new concepts quickly
  • Must be local to the JSC area and willing to work offsite at Amentum building and onsite at Johnson Space Center on a regular basis

Nice To Haves

  • Experience leading a software development project across the full development life cycle
  • Experience in Safety Critical Human-Rated Software Development
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience with NASA/JSC
  • 10 years of experience with NASA/JSC flight software processes
  • Prior experience with government contract task order management
  • Prior experience in developing schedules, budgets, and project plans
