About The Position

The City of Grand Junction is seeking a Deputy IT Director to assist in leading a strong team of professionals in planning, directing, and overseeing Citywide technology services, including infrastructure, cybersecurity, GIS, enterprise applications, public safety systems, and customer support. The Deputy IT Director will lead managers and technical staff, coordinate major IT projects, and ensure reliable, secure, and efficient operations that align with the City’s strategic priorities and service delivery needs.

Requirements

Five (5) years of increasingly responsible IT systems administration experience including two (2) years of administrative and supervisory responsibility.
Equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in computer science, IT systems or a related field.
Possession of, or ability to obtain, City of Grand Junction Leadership Track certification within two (2) years of appointment.
Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.

Responsibilities

Plan, direct, coordinate and review the work plan for assigned IT supervisors, support specialists and assigned staff.
Oversee the preparation, maintenance, and implementation of a City-wide IT systems portfolio including continuity of operations.
Direct the IT Department’s procurement and asset management.
Develop, implement and manage IT initiatives, policies, and procedures for assigned areas in support of the City's Strategic Plan.
Evaluate and recommend proposals for new or enhanced software, equipment, and new technology.
Collaborate with department directors, City leadership, and external partners to ensure alignment of technology strategy with organizational objectives.
Monitor and evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of service delivery methods and procedures.
Participate on and provide staff support to a variety of boards, commissions and committees.
Serve as IT Director in their absence.
Safeguard critical, sensitive and confidential communication.
Perform other duties of a similar nature or level.
