About The Position

The Deputy Director, Outreach & Partnerships, assists in the management and coordination of statewide programs and initiatives that support veterans, service members, and their families. The position provides operational and programmatic support for key departmental initiatives, planning and implementing outreach and communications initiatives, and representing the Department at meetings and public events. The Deputy Director also supports interagency collaboration, assists with special projects, and provides supervision to interns and volunteers. Requirements

Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Five years of administrative staff or professional work.
Candidates may substitute 30 credit hours from an accredited college or university for each year up to four years of the required experience.
Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and one year of experience in administrative staff or professional work for the required experience.
Candidates may substitute the possession of a Master's degree from an accredited college or university for the required experience.
Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work related to the administration of rules, regulations, policy, procedures and processes, or overseeing or coordinating unit operations or functioning as a staff assistant to a higher ranking commissioned officer on a year-for- year basis for the required experience.
Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.

Responsibilities

Coordinate and support statewide outreach initiatives to promote awareness of Department programs and services.
Assist in the implementation of key Department initiatives by coordinating partner communications, maintaining engagement records, and supporting subcommittee meetings and activities.
Prepare meeting materials, follow-up correspondence and due-outs as needed.
Represent the Department at events and meetings to strengthen collaboration among state agencies, military installations, community partners, and Maryland’s military connected community.
Provide general staff support to the Director of COA, as assigned, including the preparation of reports, briefing materials, correspondence, and recommendations on outreach, advocacy, or legislative matters.
Participate in interagency meetings and task forces as directed.
Provide support to the Maryland Veterans Commission, including assisting with meeting logistics, coordinating communications, and serving as a liaison between the Commission and Department leadership.
Provide coverage support for the Department’s social media, email newsletter, and website manager.
Serve as the Department’s designee for commissions and councils.
Other duties as assigned.
