Responsible for document management activities, including preparing, scanning, filing, processing, issuing and returning records/vital documents to the customer. Professionally assist customers and provide information or guidance by reviewing and processing requests in person, over the telephone, through electronic transmissions and through the mail. Verify recordability and input data into the computer from documents being recorded. Determines appropriate release of confidential records to qualified applicants and maintains security and confidentiality of documents and data. Maintains knowledge of processes and statues. Determines and calculates appropriate fees based upon established parameters; collects fees, acts as cashier and makes change. Responsible for reconciling and balancing cash drawers and is held personally accountable for shortages. Participates in activities and duties related to emergency management during a local state of disaster as directed by appropriate county managers. Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • 1 year of clerical experience including cash handling and customer service.
  • Strong computer, typing (40 wpm) and data entry skills required.
  • Ability to do basic math and spelling.
  • Ability to read and write cursive.
  • Good written and verbal communication and organizational skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills including diplomacy and problem solving to deal effectively with the public, other employees, and elected officials.
  • Overtime may be required.
  • Valid Texas Driver License and proof of vehicle insurance.
  • Various skills tests will be administered if selected for an interview.
  • This position requires a successful criminal background check required by Texas Department of State Human Services - Vital Statistics Section.

Nice To Haves

  • Three (3) years preferred
  • Prior experience working in a legal capacity a plus.
  • Bilingual preferred (Spanish, Chinese, Vietnamese, or Arabic)
