Georgia Medical Staffing is in need of a DMD or DDS interested in a long-term, contract with the VA for work in White River Junction, VT. QUALIFICATIONS: · Be a licensed practitioner who specializes in dentistry and branch of medicine focused on teeth, gums, and mouth. Dentists can diagnose, prevent, manage and treat diseases, injuries and malformations of the oral cavity and other aspects of the craniofacial complex. · Have a Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) or Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from a school approved by the American Dental Association (ADA) or the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. · Have passed the National Board Dental Examinations (NBDE) which are developed and administered by the Joint Commission on National Dental Examinations (JCNDE). · Possess a current, full, and unrestricted license to practice dentistry in the state of Vermont, United States. · Recent employment as a full-time practicing clinical dentist serving diverse adult patient population (recent VA dental clinic experience preferred). · Have at least three years of creditable experience as a full-time dentist. · Can prioritize multiple tasks based on deadlines, importance, and scope of assignments. · Be self-directed, detail oriented, excellent at meeting deadlines with well-developed time management, organization and project management skills. · Have a mastery of oral and written communication skills with proficiency to convey complex information. · Have strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work with all levels of staff from varying backgrounds. · Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of industry best practices and evidence-based principles. · Have comprehensive knowledge and skill of clinical terminology, Microsoft 365 Office programs, and electronic health record systems. · Must possess a current unrestricted driver's license in the United States and ability to drive a mobile dental clinic (commercial driver's license not required). JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Scope of Care Provide comprehensive dental care and perform duties consistent with the laws and regulations governing the dental practice act in the state of their licensure. 2. Clinical Care · Conduct comprehensive dental examinations, diagnosis, and treatment planning, and ensure that each dental treatment plan considers the Veteran's comprehensive patient history. · Develop and discuss treatment plans with patients based on their needs and preferences, using Veteran-centric care models. Perform progressive phased dental care (Acute phase, Disease Control phase, Definitive Treatment phase and Maintenance phase) that could include; diagnosis, restorative (including dental implants), preventative, oral surgery, endodontic, prosthodontic, periodontic, and other dental procedures within their scope of licensure and training. · Stabilize and treat acute dental issues such as infections or trauma. · Manage post-operative care and provide follow-up dental treatment plans. · Collaborate with VA dental or medical staff for treatment that cannot be provided in the mobile dental clinic. Clinic Management: · Supervise dental hygienist and dental assistants in accordance with state dental board regulations. · Assign staff duties to the dental hygienist and dental assistants, as appropriate. · Ensure dental staff provide medically necessary dental care to promote, preserve, and restore the oral health of Veterans according to generally accepted standards of dental practice and scope of services based upon statutory eligibility. · Verify dental eligibility of Veterans and render decisions on all Class III and Class VI eligibility determinations. Eligibility for dental care is defined by statute and is to be provided in accordance with the provisions of existing law and VA regulations, i.e. 38 U.S.C. §§1710(c) and 1712. · Efficiently handle patient complaints, ensuring thorough documentation and timely follow-up action as required. Compliance and Documentation · Ensure that all treatment plans meet VA policies, standards, and regulatory requirements for dental care. · Follow defined processes in the Electronic Health/Dental Record for documentation of dental treatment. · Maintain meticulous records of all assessments, recommendations, and communications related to dental treatment. · Follow all established medication policies and procedures. No sample medications shall be provided to patients. 5. Quality Assurance · Engage in regular peer reviews with VA dentists to ensure consistency and accuracy in care plan reviews. · Participate in meetings to discuss complex cases, share best practices, and receive constructive feedback. · Ensure compliance with relevant VHA, Occupational Safety and Health Administration, and Joint Commission standards. · Report trends and issues arising from treatment provided utilizing the mobile dental unit. · Ensure mobile dental clinic operational procedures and SOPs are consistent with national policies and guidelines. 1. Process Improvement · Assist in identifying inefficiencies with the pilot program Document and communicate changes to processes and ensure all internal and external stakeholders are aware of updates. · Assist in developing and implementing quality control measures to ensure consistent and high-quality dental treatment. · 7. Pilot Program Reports and Responsibilities · Assist in preparing reports to summarize dental care activities and performance metrics. · Stakeholder Engagement · Assist in gathering feedback from stakeholders regarding the efficacy of the pilot program. · Assist in developing and implementing strategies to address feedback and improve stakeholder satisfaction. Work Hours: The services covered by this contract shall be furnished by the contractor as defined herein. The contractor shall not be required to furnish such services on a national holiday or during off duty hours as described below.
