About The Position

The Dental Assistant Laboratory Skills Instructor operates under the direct supervision of the Program Director, contributing to the academic and professional development of students within the Dental Assistant program. This role is pivotal in delivering both theoretical knowledge and practical applications through a variety of instructional methods, including classroom teaching, clinical practicums, simulation exercises, and skills laboratory tracking. The position is designed to ensure students achieve educational objectives and gain hands-on experience necessary for their professional growth. Key aspects of this position include: Providing structured and engaging instruction that aligns with established course materials and learning objectives. Fostering a supportive and professional learning environment that encourages student success and growth. Collaborating with faculty and staff to maintain high educational standards and a cohesive team dynamic. Offering ongoing mentorship to students, addressing their academic and professional development needs. Ensuring compliance with institutional policies and accreditation standards to uphold program integrity. This role is integral to the success of the Dental Assistant program, directly impacting the quality of education and the preparedness of students entering the healthcare workforce. Requirements

• Degree or post-secondary education and relevant experience meeting state (TWC) and ABHES accreditation requirements.
• A minimum of 5 years of practical experience in the field, with prior teaching experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Deliver assigned classes using prescribed courses of study, established texts, and instructional materials.
• Maintain the classroom and laboratory environments in optimal physical condition.
• Supervise students in laboratory and clinical settings, ensuring adherence to safety and educational standards.
• Review and manage the procurement of medical supplies necessary for laboratory experiences.
• Provide hands-on instruction through demonstrations and practical exercises.
• Evaluate student learning by assessing competencies through return demonstrations.
• Sign and date student skill checklists to document progress and competency.
• Manage simulation scenarios and assess student responses for effectiveness and accuracy.
• Communicate knowledge effectively with enthusiasm and confidence to inspire student engagement.
• Stay current with healthcare practices and standards relevant to the assigned courses.
• Perform related duties as required to support program objectives.
• Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned by the Program Director.
