About The Position

This position is responsible for performing deburring, grinding, and surface finishing operations on manufactured parts to ensure they meet quality, safety, and dimensional specifications. The Deburring Technician uses hand tools, power grinders, and other finishing equipment to remove burrs, sharp edges, and excess material from metal or plastic components. This role includes inspecting parts for defects, maintaining consistency with production standards, and following established work instructions and safety procedures. The position also supports overall production by maintaining a clean work area, properly handling materials, and communicating any quality or equipment issues to supervisors.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED equivalent.
  • Ability to use hand tools and power tools (grinders, sanders, files, etc.) safely and effectively.
  • Basic knowledge of deburring, grinding, and metal finishing techniques.
  • Ability to read and follow work instructions, blueprints, and specifications.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Basic measurement skills using calipers, gauges, or other inspection tools.
  • Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
  • Ability to identify defects, burrs, and surface imperfections.
  • Understanding of workplace safety practices and proper use of PPE.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks.
  • Basic problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
  • Time management skills and ability to meet production goals.
  • 0-2 years of experience in manufacturing, production, metal fabrication, or a related field is preferred but not required.
  • Experience following work instructions, safely procedures, and production guidelines.

Nice To Haves

  • Vocational or technical training in metal fabrication, machining, or a related field is a plus but not required.
  • Previous experience with deburring, grinding, sanding, or finishing parts is a plus.
  • Familiarity with hand tools and power tools (e.g., grinders, files, sanders) is helpful but not necessary.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced production or shop environment.
  • Basic understanding of quality standards and inspection processes.

Responsibilities

  • Remove burrs, sharp edges, and excess material from parts using hand tools and power equipment (e.g., grinders, files, sanders).
  • Operate grinding and deburring equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Inspect parts to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications.
  • Read and follow work instructions, blueprints, and production documents.
  • Identify and report defects, inconsistencies, or damaged materials.
  • Maintain consistent part quality and production output.
  • Perform basic measurements using tools such as calipers or gauges.
  • Handle materials and parts carefully to prevent damage.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures, including proper use of PPE.
  • Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of tools and equipment.
  • Communicates with supervisors and team members regarding production or quality issues.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
