About The Position

The DC Power Service Center Tech repairs, recharges, cleans, and prepares for shipment of power batteries by performing the following duties. Occasionally drives truck with capacity of more than 3 tons, to transport materials to and from specified destinations, by performing the following duties. Occasionally travels to customer facilities to neutralize, clean, and repair power batteries.

Requirements

  • HS Diploma or GED
  • Ability to lift, pull and/or push 50 lbs. on a regular basis
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply sound judgement understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Forklift Certification
  • Good driving record

  • Good organization skills

Responsibilities

  • Ability to perform discharge tests, evaluates results, and makes necessary repairs.
  • Reads meters and adjusts charge parameters to control time and flow of current through battery.
  • Washes, cleans, and neutralizes customer’s batteries at customer location or in the service center.
  • Repairs battery charging equipment.
  • Prepare new product for shipment.
  • Properly unloads, stores, palletizes, and loads new, used, customer repair, and scrap batteries and chargers.
  • Occasionally travels to customer sites to evaluate, diagnose, and repair customer’s equipment.
  • Maintains records of performance reports.
  • Operates material handling equipment per OSHA requirements.
  • Maintains a safe, orderly, and clean working environment.
  • Drives truck to destination to deliver or pick up product for services or recycling
  • Prepare receipts for load picked up.
  • Maintains truck log, if necessary, according to state and federal regulations.
  • Maintains contact with supervisor to receive pick-up and delivery instructions.
  • Loads and unloads truck.
  • Positions blocks and secures cargo during transit according to state and federal DOT regulations.
  • Inspects truck equipment and supplies such as tires, brakes, lights, fuel, oil, and water.
  • Keeps truck clean and orderly and in proper working condition.
