About The Position

Are you a person who enjoys helping people become independent in daily tasks? Are you looking to contribute to a fulfilling mission? Goodwill is looking for a full-time Day Habilitation Associate at our Iowa City location. This position requires two years of full-time employment in a related field. Post-secondary education in a related field may be substituted for the experience requirement. Under the leadership of the Lead Day Habilitation Specialist, this position serves as a direct support professional and program manager for a caseload of people with disabilities. Day Hab associates oversee participants, develop relationships with referral agencies, write client-centered goals and plans, and represent our department at team meetings. Associates also provide assessment and training regarding personal, social, and communication, recreation and leisure, and academic and work behaviors and skills, for a caseload of individuals with disabilities. Day Habilitation team members help participants with barriers to independence explore the community by going out for lunch, grocery shopping, volunteering, swimming, fishing, visiting museums, and more. Agency vehicles and public transportation are used for all community activities. Requirements

  • Two years full-time employment in a related field required. Post-secondary education may be substituted for one year’s experience.
  • Dependent Adult Abuse training must be completed within the first six months of employment.
  • Certificate of Completion in CPI (Non-Violent Crisis Prevention Institute) must be obtained within the first twelve months of employment.
  • Day Habilitation Associates must have a reliable vehicle and a valid driver’s license, with proof of valid insurance.
  • Day Habilitation Associates must pass a motor vehicle record screening, dependent adult and child abuse check, and a criminal background check.
