Camp Tumbleson Lake - Day Camp Coordinator
About The Position
The YMCA Camp Tumbleson Lake Day Camp Coordinator supervises and executes all check-in/check-out procedures, arrival transitions, general supervision on site, and bus transportation supervision. The Day Camp Coordinator will supervise and assist on-site supervision for both Camp Tumbleson Lake campers and daily YMCA Field Trip campers. They will provide quality experience to children and parents focused on the YMCA core values: inclusion, honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring. This role will provide an atmosphere of safety and respect for each participant and interact positively with children, staff, parents, and members of the community. Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Meets Program Leader qualifications as stated by the State of Colorado Department of Human Services Child Care division.
- 1-3 years working with children in a camp/school setting in the past.
- Ability to implement age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate program activities and relate to children.
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
- Ability to communicate clearly, calmly, and effectively with parents in various settings.
- Typical requirements within 30 days of hire include completion of: Child Abuse Prevention for Supervisory Staff; CPR; First Aid; AED; Bloodborne Pathogens.
Responsibilities
- Independently leads and supervises camper check-in and check-out processes each day at the Boulder YMCA.
- Follows YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention, and emergencies.
- Leads and supervises all required communication for rollcall, contacting parents when necessary, and communication with Program and Day Camp Director for all updates and changes to daily check-ins and check-outs.
- Communicates clearly and frequently with Program and Day Camp Director on all updates in transportation to and from camp.
- Leads and supervises all medication check-ins for day campers.
- Is on time for all shifts; and is flexible to accommodate unexpected schedule changes.
- Ensures safety of campers while on the bus in transit to and from camp.
- Assists in camp activities and supervision for all CTL and Field Trip campers.
- Supervision while at camp of all transitionary times upon arrival and departure.
- Maintaining confidentiality of YMCA issues and records.
- Maintaining friendly, professional relationships with staff, participants, and community members.
- Practices positive guidance and preventative discipline techniques with natural consequences.
- Required to attend and complete staff meetings, trainings, and all mandatory licensing required trainings.
- Adhere to policies related to boundaries with consumers.
- Attends required abuse risk management training.
- Adheres to procedures related to managing high-risk activities and supervising consumers.
- Reports suspicious or inappropriate behaviors and policy violations.
- Follows mandated abuse reporting requirements.
- Other job duties as assigned.
