About The Position

SUMMARY The Data Entry Clerk maintains the parish database by entering new and updated parishioner account information. This role requires the transfer of data, quickly and accurately, from a variety of sources. The person in this role must be able to correct existing data, update new data and be comfortable working independently with numerical and written data. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The following duties and functions, as outlined herein, are intended to be representative of the type of tasks performed within this classification. Requirements

  • Requires an appreciation and respect for the Catholic Church and its teachings. Church employees must conduct themselves in a manner that is consistent with and supportive of the mission and purpose of the Church. Their public behavior must not violate the faith, morals or laws of the Church or the policies of the diocese.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of 2-4 years of previous related work experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft, Outlook and database software.
  • The ability to communicate, listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.
  • The ability to read and understand information and ideas presented in writing.
  • Strong command of both written and spoken English language.
  • The working hours of this position are not limited to an 8-hour day. This person will need to be available in the evening and weekends, as needed.
  • Must be willing to work in conditions of stress and function well under pressure.
  • Tasks involve the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (10 pounds).
  • The ability to sit and stand for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to reach, grasp, feel, and see up close and from afar.
  • Must be able to use basic office computer hardware and peripherals, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Must be able to communicate verbally and in written form.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares source data for computer entry by compiling and sorting information, establishing entry priorities.
  • Enters parishioner and account data by inputting alphabetic and numeric information on keyboard or optical scanner according to screen format.
  • Verifies entered parishioners and account data by reviewing, correcting, deleting, or reentering data; combining data from both systems when account information is incomplete; purging files to eliminate duplication of data.
  • Inputs parishioners’ offertory in the parish offertory program.
  • Maintains financial security by following internal accounting controls.
  • Assists with important departmental projects.
  • Assists the receptionist as needed
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Performed additional duties as assigned to support operational needs.
  • Ensured the confidentiality and protection of all data at all times.
