About The Position

Operates computer to input and retrieve information, creates reports and maintains databases. Requirements

  • Required to be a competent data entry operator and operate a computer keyboard at 98 strokes per minute for formatted data (150 for non-formatted data).
  • Must have one year of experience in the operation of alpha/numeric data entry equipment.
  • Light physical effort required.
  • Must have a general knowledge of data entry source documents and standard practice instructions relative to data processing applications.
  • Required to be knowledgeable to related claims forms and documents processed in the legal department.
  • Must interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral and diagrammatic or schedule form.
  • Required to be accurate in posing and checking data.
  • Must possess discretion necessary for dealing with confidential data.
  • Must have knowledge of Chicago metropolitan area streets.
  • Required to be knowledgeable of the Authority’s rail lines and bus routes.
  • Must possess a suitable temperament to maintain amiable relations with various levels of department personnel.
  • Usual office working conditions.
  • Computer, working knowledge of Microsoft Suite or Corel Office suite, including word-processing and spreadsheet functions.

Responsibilities

  • Operates computer to input, retrieve, update and store claims data and to create and maintain electronic claims files.
  • Audits data to ensure that records are complete and accurate.
  • Creates and maintains Claims paper files.
  • Prepares daily incident sheet and forwards it to appropriate staff.
  • Reviews source or back-up documents to ensure they are valid, complete and pertinent to the claim. Identifies improper documents for investigation.
  • Prepares and distributes reports.
  • Audits data to ensure that reports are complete and accurate.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.
