As part of our ongoing growth and expansion, we are seeking a dynamic and experienced Data Entry Clerk to support NOAA and the Northeast Fisheries Science Center (NEFSC), Fishery Monitoring and Research Division (FMRD).

Requirements

  • Minimum of one (1) year of relevant experience and requirements for degrees or credentials
  • The demonstrated ability to enter numerical data with great and sustained accuracy. Text data entry speed is less critical. Both keypad and text entry skills will be tested
  • A general knowledge of computer use, and willingness to learn
  • Ability to track progress, to work to deadlines, and to ask for help when necessary
  • Program planning and management in a team environment
  • Developing performance metrics and milestones
  • Working with diverse interagency teams
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Developing and monitoring resource investment strategies
  • Working with marine fisheries information programs or other science-based programs
  • Proficient in current MS Office software programs
  • Proficient in the primary G Suite tools include Gmail, Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Forms, Calendar, Google+, Sites, and Hangouts.
  • Valid Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

  • Data Entry keypunches data from paper logs for the Northeast Fisheries Science Center (NEFSC), Fishery Monitoring and Research Division (FMRD) after they are reviewed by data debriefers, runs checks on the data and corrects keypunch errors as necessary.
  • Contractor shall accurately and efficiently enter values from paper fisheries observer logs into a proprietary computer system.
  • Contractor shall meet Observer Program milestones of entering trip data within 60 days of date land of trip.
  • Contractor shall enter data related to acoustic pingers on gillnet trips within 60 days of date land of trip.
  • Contractor shall assist with the tracking of age structure samples by comparing the number of samples with values entered into the tracking database table.
  • Contractor shall keep the Data Quality Program Manager informed of progress and any issues encountered.
  • Contractor shall work with team leaders to verify inconsistencies and solve data recording problems as needed.
  • Contractor shall assist with routine audits and checks as needed.
