About The Position

InMotion Hosting is seeking a driven Data Center Operations Manager to lead our team. The Data Center Operations Manager is a hands-on, working manager position that is responsible for leading our team to ensure server readiness, network maintenance, and inventory of hardware and software necessary for InMotion Hosting and our customers.

Requirements

  • 6+ years Linux-based system administration and data center engineering/operations experience.
  • Previous leadership experience in a Data Center environment.
  • Experience working within a budget and leveraging your resources.
  • Experience managing implementation and troubleshooting of an enterprise data center environment
  • Exposure to network and storage operations
  • Working knowledge and practical experience in increasing technology footprints, ensuring uptime, and working with network, security, and systems engineers to produce quality solutions
  • Exposure to HVAC management, power supply, UPS, cooling/heating.
  • Willingness to participate in on-call events and rotations.

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency in Python or other programming languages.
  • Strong understanding of cloud-based virtualization technologies, including LXC, Virtuozzo/OpenVZ and OpenStack.

Responsibilities

  • Lead teams across multiple data centers and regions committed to providing highly reliable service and strong technical expertise to our customers and coworkers.
  • Resolve open issues while ensuring that our uptime is always as high as possible.
  • Provide server maintenance including hardware upgrades and replacements in our data centers.
  • Ensure RMAs are handled through multiple vendors promptly.
  • Mentor and develop staff members both within the systems team and the support team.
  • Ensure checks on HVAC pressures, DC temperatures, power utilization, and “Amber checks” for errors are done regularly.
  • Conduct training on how to handle the hardware and software portion of Evacs when needed.
  • Participate in scheduled maintenance and ensure they are done according to company specifications.
  • Oversee the ordering and handling of items in all data center locations.
  • Provide direction and a point of escalation for data center staff in all locations.
  • Ensure documentation is up to date and completed when new projects are pushed out.
  • Serve as a point of communication for escalated issues from systems, data center technicians, and all other departments in the event of issues.
  • Research the procurement of new data center locations, products, and projects when needed.
