About The Position

As a Data Analyst at Relay Payments, you will play a critical role in empowering data-driven decision-making across the company. You will develop a deep understanding of our business intelligence layer and serve as a trusted partner to teams across the organization helping to quickly answer questions, uncover insights, and drive clarity through data. Working cross-functionally with leaders and stakeholders across Product, Operations, Finance, and GTM, you will help define goals, measure performance, and conduct deep-dive analyses that influence strategy. You will own and refine key data definitions to ensure consistency and scalability, and build intuitive dashboards that make insights accessible to the entire business. Collaborate with peers and cross-functional stakeholders to scope, plan, and execute data initiatives that are critical to the success of the organization, with a strong bias toward simple, maintainable, and easy-to-understand solutions. Partner with internal teams to quickly answer ad hoc data questions, providing timely insights and clarity to support decision-making. Work closely with leadership to define business goals, track progress against key metrics, and perform deep-dive analyses to uncover trends and opportunities. Design, develop, and maintain a trusted analytics and data modeling layer that enables fast, consistent answers through dashboards, SQL exploration, and emerging AI-driven analytics tools. Integrate Relay’s data with systems such as HubSpot and Salesforce, ensuring insights and metrics are embedded directly into the tools where teams operate day-to-day. Conduct peer reviews of code, models, and analytics deliverables, fostering a culture of high quality, shared ownership, and continuous improvement. Proactively identify and resolve performance bottlenecks and scalability challenges across our data stack, helping ensure reliability as the business grows.

Requirements

  • You have 4+ years of experience in a Data Analytics, Business Intelligence, or similar role.
  • You bring deep SQL expertise, with the ability to build reusable, well-tested, and high-performance data transformations. Experience with DBT is a strong plus.
  • You have a proven track record of developing intuitive, user-facing dashboards in Looker (or similar BI tools) that help teams self-serve insights.
  • You enjoy working closely with business stakeholders and take pride in empowering teams with data that makes the company run smoother and faster.
  • You are thoughtful about data modeling and structuring analytics layers for consumers, with an emphasis on simplicity, clarity, and ease of use.
  • You are comfortable using Python for data analysis and exploration, and can contribute to maintaining or troubleshooting data pipelines when needed.
  • You’ve worked with modern data stacks and are excited to operate in environments like ours (Redshift, Airflow, DBT, Looker).
  • You can communicate technical concepts to a wide variety of audiences and stakeholders.
  • You can diagnose technical problems, understand the root cause, and deliver a simple solution to resolve the issue.
