About The Position

The Dairy Manager is responsible for leading all dairy department operations to ensure product freshness, strong in‑stock conditions, accurate inventory control, and compliance with food safety standards. This role drives sales, controls shrink, and develops associates while maintaining company merchandising and service expectations.

Requirements

  • Strong leadership, organization, and communication skills
  • Ability to work early mornings, weekends, holidays, and variable schedules
  • Ability to lift, stock, and work for extended periods in refrigerated environments

  • Previous grocery or retail management experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily operations of the dairy department, including milk, eggs, cheese, yogurt, and refrigerated items
  • Ensure all products are properly rotated, dated, zoned, and maintained to freshness standards
  • Order dairy merchandise accurately to support sales and minimize out‑of‑stocks and shrink
  • Execute planograms, promotional displays, and seasonal sets per company direction
  • Maintain organized backstock and ensure accurate pricing and signing
  • Monitor shrink, damages, and out‑of‑code product and take corrective action
  • Hire, train, coach, and develop Dairy associates
  • Create and manage schedules aligned with delivery flow and labor goals
  • Assign daily tasks and hold associates accountable for productivity and quality
  • Address performance, attendance, and development opportunities appropriately
  • Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and teamwork
  • Ensure consistent, friendly, and knowledgeable customer service
  • Respond promptly and professionally to customer questions or concerns
  • Support special product requests and ensure department availability
  • Maintain compliance with food safety, sanitation, and temperature‑control requirements
  • Keep department clean, organized, and inspection‑ready at all times
  • Ensure proper use and condition of equipment and fixtures
  • Follow all company policies, safety guidelines, and asset protection procedures
