About The Position

The Strategic Account Manager will lead and direct relationships with owners and managers of Alta's most important progressive dairy farm accounts and prospects throughout the USA, with a focus on California, Arizona, and Idaho. This role involves collaboration with local sales and marketing resources to execute valuable account strategies for progressive dairy farms across the nation. The candidate must be open to ample travel within the United States and be able to work on a variable schedule.

Requirements

  • 5 + years of account management experience
  • Bachelor of Science Degree and Advanced Degree in Dairy or Animal Science required
  • Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to multi-task and set priorities
  • Exceptional time management skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Strong team player

Nice To Haves

  • Direct experience working in the dairy industry or dairy farm management experience is considered an asset
  • Familiarity with Dairy Comp 305 (DC305) highly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Maintain relationships with ownership and key management on progressive International dairies
  • Drive sales by building long-term working relationships with distributors and business partners
  • Identify opportunities to deliver profit-generating information, services, and products for current and prospective clients
  • Training distributors or customers on topical items either on genetics, trends in the industry or regarding key products
  • Lead the negotiation process
  • Identify critical, high-payoff strategies and prioritize efforts
  • Ensure that the agreed-upon sales budget and profit goals are achieved
  • Support sales and inventory forecasting efforts
  • Engage in networking opportunities, such as peer groups and industry conferences
  • Execute yearly business plan to focus on opportunities available within the target group of clients and prospects
  • Act as a resource and coach to local sales teams, and support Alta’s aggressive People Development efforts
  • Manage the promotional budget allocated to this program
