Requirements

• High school diploma, equivalent education (GED) or post-secondary education
• Ability to understand and apply accurate procedures in specimen handling and clerical processing.
• Good communication and organizational skills with demonstrated ability to provide accurate information and instructions.
• Strong computer keyboarding skills.

Nice To Haves

• Two (2) years experience as a Cytology Preparations Technician in a clinical or pathology laboratory highly preferred.
• Knowledge and experience in the use and application of computers.

Responsibilities

• Prepare cytology slides and cell block preparations from Non Gynecologic Specimens for microscopic examination and diagnosis by Cytotechnicians, Cytopathologists and Pathologists.
• Perform pre-analytical procedures including labeling, preparing aliquots, specimen processing, laboratory waste disposal and decontamination of laboratory areas.
