About The Position
Responsible for describing the gross attributes of patient specimens (biopsies only) and transferring the specimen into cassettes for processing and diagnosis, with special attention to patient identification and safety. The Grossing Technician works independently under the supervision of the Pathologists and Pathologists' Assistants. Other duties include maintaining the gross room, maintaining quality control records, assisting Pathologists with frozen sections and accessioning specimens.
Requirements
- Associates degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or Bachelor's degree in a Chemical, Physical, Biological or Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Laboratory Technology.
- Must meet CLIA requirements for performing high complexity testing.
