About The Position

Cytologists evaluate cellular samples for the presence of infectious processes, precancerous changes and invasive cancer, reporting out routine gynecologic samples, while rendering preliminary diagnoses on potentially abnormal gynecologic samples, all non-gynecologic samples and all fine needle aspirations. Cytologists assist with processing fine needle aspiration specimens for cytologic evaluation. They also assist with teaching students, residents, and fellows that rotate into the department of Cytopathology. EDUCATION: A Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university, plus 12 months of training in a CAAHEP accredited school of cytotechnology, or equivalency qualification as specified by the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments law. CERTIFICATION: Cytologist board certification by the American Society of Clinical Pathology, CT(ASCP), or eligible. SIGN ON BONUS: External candidates are eligible for a sign on bonus between $3,000 - $5,000 depending upon years of experience. Current employees of the UVM Health Network are not eligible for this bonus. Additional terms and conditions apply. Requirements
