About The Position

The Cytologist is responsible for processing standings and studying cells microscopically from the human body to detect evidence of cancer and other pathological conditions. Receives body materials and fluids such as blood, urine, exudates, and scrapings and performs all necessary procedures for preparation of specimen. Assumes responsibility for all Joint Commission compliant QC and QA documentation covering the cytopathology section.

Requirements

  • Must have graduated from a school of cytotechnology accredited by the Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation; or be licensed by a certifying agency approved by HHS
  • CT (ASCP) certification, IAC or equivalent required
  • Must have 3 years of full-time experience as a cytotechnologist within the preceding 10 years
  • Should be experienced with non-GYN cytology and fine needle aspiration techniques

Nice To Haves

  • Prefer current Thin Prep certification, and processing acumen
  • Previous work experience in medical field preferred
