About The Position

Assumes the overall responsibility for the technical administration and operation of a laboratory area for cytology. Performing diagnostic testing for both GYN and NON-GYN PAP testing. Responsibilities Participates as a member of the Care Team to achieve business goals, Clinical/quality outcomes, and customer satisfaction. Provides assistance to team members as requested or necessary. Participates on committees/councils as requested/required. Communicates operational issues clearly and effectively within the team and outside the team as appropriate. Safeguards confidential information. Participates in performance improvement activities. Regular and timely attendance is required for this position. Communicates the patient and family health care needs to the appropriate health care provider. Calls all critical results to the appropriate health care provider in a timely manner. Communicates expectations to fellow employees and other hospital employees clearly. Performs diagnostic tests for interpretation and/ or therapeutic intervention by/ or at the request of a licensed practitioner. Performs cytology laboratory procedures to obtain data for diagnosis and treatment of disease or disease processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Must have a B.S. Degree in Cytology or equivalent from an AMA approved and accredited institution. Or a BS degree in another area and hold a certificate for Cytology from ASCP (American Society of Clinical Pathologists).
  • Certification by American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP)
  • No experience is required directly out of school
  • For supervisory positions must have at least 3 years of experience
