About The Position

This is an opportunity for a Customer Sales & Service Representative with Applied Industrial Technologies, a global industrial distribution company founded in 1923. The company partners with over 4,000 world-class manufacturers, distributing a wide variety of innovative and reliable industrial products. The role involves using customer service skills to solve real-world problems for customers, building ongoing business relationships through repeated contact and consultation. Unlike typical CSR roles, this position focuses on providing expert assistance, researching needs, recommending parts, and quickly and efficiently providing solutions, especially during costly equipment breakdowns. The company emphasizes that prior knowledge of industrial distribution is not required as training will be provided. This position is seen as a great starting point for career growth into sales or management, with clear growth paths within the company.

Requirements

  • Enjoys working with computers, including basic knowledge of Microsoft Office (specifically Outlook & Excel) and comfortable with Google search engine
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record (MVR)
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to multitask
  • Sense of humor
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Nice To Haves

  • 6 months of customer service experience
  • SAP / ERP experience
  • Some knowledge of industrial distribution products and hydraulics

Responsibilities

  • Assist customers by phone and in person at our facility
  • Use customer service skills and talents to clarify their needs, do research, and recommend parts (after getting up to speed)
  • Be focused and driven to meet / exceed monthly sales goals while increasing customer satisfaction
  • Process quotes, take orders and provide post-order service
  • Build ongoing business relationships with customers through repeated contact and consultation
  • Quickly and efficiently provide customers with the right parts and/or solutions, especially when customers are experiencing costly equipment breakdowns
  • Utilize mechanical aptitude to help solve customer problems or troublesome processes (on occasion)
