About The Position

The Customer Field Operations Crew II position involves a variety of activities related to the installation and maintenance of distribution and transmission pipelines. Responsibilities include operating heavy machinery like backhoes, trenchers, and cranes, as well as using various hand tools for tasks such as making taps, fusing plastic pipe, installing leak clamps, and performing site excavation. The role also entails assisting with traffic control, locating pipelines, purges, retiring services, and relocating service lines. This position requires working outdoors in various field locations, often in adverse weather conditions and on uneven terrain, with potential contact with insects and animals. Physical demands include lifting up to 100 lbs, frequent bending, stooping, standing, digging, and climbing. Candidates must possess a valid Class A CDL and be available for a flexible work schedule, including extended hours, call-out, emergency response, and weekend/evening work. A weight restriction of 275 pounds applies.

Requirements

  • High School/GED degree
  • Must demonstrate abilities for employment
  • Must have a valid Class A CDL to be considered

  • Commercial driver’s license (CDL) required
  • Prior related experience or completion of an accredited training program

Nice To Haves

  • Three (3) or more years of experience involving excavations operating backhoes and excavators

Responsibilities

  • Performs a variety of activities associated with the installation and maintenance of distribution and transmission pipelines

  • Make taps
  • Fuse plastic pipe
  • Perform maintenance on equipment and/or ensure routine maintenance is performed
  • “Squeeze-off” steel and plastic
  • Set-up for job (ensure tools and equipment available)
  • Install leak clamps
  • Layout of line
  • Cut, thread, and re-wrap pipes
  • Perform site excavation
  • Performs and assists in related activities
  • Traffic control
  • Locate pipelines
  • Assist with purges
  • Retire services
  • Assist in relocating service lines
  • Change stop-cocks
  • Performs above functions utilizing a variety of tools and equipment
  • Perform other duties as assigned and required
